Chakra

The Chakra project is an interactive jewelry piece designed to strengthen and nurture relationships for distant couples.

It combines cultural symbolism with modern technology to create a meaningful connection, allowing partners to share experiences and emotions despite physical separation. Through thoughtful integration of rituals, materials, and user-centered design, Chakra becomes more than jewelry—it’s a secret string that fosters intimacy and the sharing of experiences and emotions in remote settings.

The research for the Chakra project delves into the ritual of astrology, exploring how seasonal and celestial influences shape individuals’ experiences and relationships. It incorporates materials like copper, known for its healing properties, and Gomti chakra stones, valued for their spiritual significance, to enhance the product’s cultural depth. Additionally, the science behind vagus nerve stimulation informs the design, integrating physiological wellness by promoting calm and connection between partners through subtle sensory cues.

To explore relationship dynamics, I conducted an online survey with eight couples using a Google Form with 10 balanced questions. The survey highlighted key priorities such as communication, privacy, relationship growth, and appreciation. Additionally, an expert interview provided deeper insights into couple behavior and operant conditioning, shaping the product’s approach to fostering positive communication.
